Gov. John Carney declared a state of emergency on March 13 that, among other things, limited the size of crowds. Then, last Saturday, he closed the beaches in an effort to make people stay home and keep each other at a safe distance. According to recent news reports, Carney has said that he’s considering toughening the state’s response to COVID-19 to bring it into line with New Jersey and Pennsylvania to stem the flow of residents from those states – which have more restrictive rules – into Delaware.
While the situation is in flux, one thing seems clear. “Essential businesses” are allowed to stay open under any quarantine order. Among those essential businesses are auto repair shops, like In and Out Tires.
